Have you ever noticed that most {if not all} furniture stores have paper rulers all over the place?
AND they want you to take them! Why else would they put them around every corner?
My co-worker/mentor snagged a set for the whole second grade and it didn't cost us a penny!
It also doesn't matter if our students use and abuse them because... well... they were free!
We laminated our rulers and hole-punched the ends for easy storage.
Annnnddd... since these rulers are flexible, they are really easy to use!
How do you teach measuring in your classroom?

What a great idea! I think I need to go furniture shopping now :)

I will definitely use this idea. I think students should use different kinds of measuring tools, so these will be a great addition to my collection. Thanks for sharing this!

I have soooo wanted to snag the ones from IKEA, but have never taken the plunge. Now, I will tell them I have your permission :)

We sure love things when they are free. I was just at a large furniture store recently and wasn't on the look out for these, but will be next time. Thanks for sharing!

I saw rulers similar to these at IKEA around Christmas time. I wanted to grab a bunch, but my husband thought I was nuts! I'm glad to see that I wasn't completely nutty.
